Sketches, Paintings, and Summer Happenings!

Well, it’s been quite a while! It’s been a busy summer; helping with two local VBS’s two weeks in a row was especially tiring! We’ve had the pleasure of having our older brother home from collage with us all summer, as well! It was great spending time with him!

Living in CA, we went to the beach a whole lot over the extent of this summer. Actually, we went quite a lot of places outdoors. Me and my mom (<3) have started Nature Journaling because of that. It’s been a blast! It’s great fun, and really relaxing after a long day at the beach, or in the forrest. If you’d like, I’ll share all of my pages so far in a later post.

Anyway, it’s been quite busy. Now let’s get to the art! collecting most of what I’ve done over the summer, I’m actually a little disappointed in my self. I like what I’ve done, it’s just barely any. Oh well, I will try to get into more of a groove in the next few months. Here’s what I’ve done!

I’ll show you my pencil sketches from my sketch book, first!

^ I was practicing expressing emotion.

^ Just for fun!

^ More practice, nothing brilliant. 🙂

^ This was an idea I had for a painting I want to do. I’m calling it, and would call the painting, The Girls Hat. 🙂

^ A sketch I did with a friend. She gave me the idea! 🙂

^ I’m calling this one, The Bride. Or maybe The Runaway Bride would fit better…? Who would want to marry someone they are forced to marry? Anyway, just playing around. 🙂

For this one, I was just desperate to play with some paint, but didn’t really have a plan. I took out a piece of scrap wood that my mom gave to me a couple of days ago, and did a little sketch right onto the wood, and started painting. It turned out really nice, I think! Her face was really hard for me to get it looking right. I had to blend all the different shades for the shading of her face. Her eyes were pretty difficult, too. But I think it’s always hard when painting to do tiny details. I think my favorite part of this piece, though, was and is her outfit. 🙂

Well, there it is! All of the except able art and drawings that I have done over the summer since I last blogged. As I said, not very ,ugh, but it was fun! 🙂 Please let me know what you think of it all! I will really try to blog more often! I totally failed to do so over the summer!

I’ll be back soon with my Nature Journal pages, and more details about them!

I would like to thank you for visiting and reading! If the time exsits, please comment. Critique and complements are both equally welcome! Thank you!

Many Drawings!

Well, I’ve got lots of drawing to show you! I found an artist online that does a whole bunch of fun little drawings, and was inspired to doodle and just explore my style for fun! So, I created about five, quick new peices!

1. This one I started a while back, but just finished it a few days ago.

I was realy happy with the pencil sketch!

Then, I was still pretty happy with the inking.

But…

Then I colored t and completely messed up the glass doors. It’s not my worst. I’m still pretty happy with it, but it’s not my favorite, either.

2. After that, on the same day, I decided to doodle a mermaid and her sea-serpent friends!

“Friend of the Serpants”

3. I’m calling this one “With a Little Help from the Dragons”

4. This one was just a fun pen sketch of a weird, mysterious brick structure I saw on our way to Santa Cruze.

5. This one was just some perspecive practice I was doing. It’s supposed to be focusing on the mermaids tail, and have her body sort of in the background. Tell me what you think. Was it successful?

6. Now, this one is just a pencil sketch, buti love how it turned out! It’s a fairy waking up flowers at sunrise. Im very happy with it!

Well, that was a lot! I drew a lot, but didn’t blog! I don’t know why. I’ll be back soon, though! Please let me know what you think of the drawings.

Bathing at Mermaid Lagoon

Hello everyone! So sorry that it’s been so long!

Recently, my sister and I have been working on a project Neverland themed. I decided to draw something in honor of that. Even though they are complete brats, I have always thought of the mermaids of Mermaid Lagoon as inspiring. Just recently, I finely decided to draw something for them.

I had an idea of what I wanted, so I sat down and started to draw. I was very unhappy with it and left it alone for the rest of the day, thinking I was done. I came back the next day and didn’t find part of the sketch so appalling as it was just the night before. I erased the parts I disliked and kept drawing. I eventually came up with this:

Having that finished, and being very pleased with it, I went on to ink the drawing.
I left her face un-inked because o wasn’t sure if it was what I wanted yet.

Next, I did some coloring. I’m very pleased with how these parts came out!

And here is the finished peice!

Drawn with pencil, ink pens and colored pencil.

Third addition to newest sketchbook

Entitled “Bathing at Mermaid Lagoon”
I hope you liked the drawing! Please let me know what you think! I will be back soon with more art to show everyone (hopefully)! Please come visit again soon!

It’s been fun!

Leaf Poundings

I saw something about pounding a leaf impression onto paper on the internet recently and wanted to try it. I only tried it on papaer towels, but I will try it on papaer soon enough. I really like the result!

So, all I did was a got a plum leaf from our back yard and some paper towels and a hammer. I put the leaf inbetween the paper towels and hammered away. This is the result!

I used the same  leaf three times, just to see what would happen. The middle impression is the first, the top is the second, and the bottom is the third.
 Right side:

Left side:

The bottom of the leaf seamed to let out the most pigment.

This was fun and super easy, and it turned out to be really beautiful as well! I hope you get a chance to try this! Please leave a comment, including the link to your blog, I would love to go visit you!

I Took a Nap Under a Tree, And What Did I Expect to Happen?

I found a big leaf at a park yesterday. I took it home, thinking it would be a good reference. But It was something even better…inspiration. I had this idea rolling around in my mind last night, and I wanted to do it then, but wasn’t able to. Today, I have illustrated a beautiful fair peaking out from underneath a fallen leaf. Here’s my process:

First, of course, I did a pencil sketch. I had a hard time deciding on what style of clothing she would have, but I eventually decided for her to have a grass-wrap top, and just a regular skirt.

Then, I inked the drawing. I’m leaving the background un-inked because I think it would pull attention away from the fairy.

  Here she is all colored!
And here the finished prodect! I’m not very good a tree bark or roots, but I think they turned out all right!

This fairy is one who loves to collect, like me! She decorates herself with her findings; she sewed some flowers on to her dress in various places and where’s a necklace of mushrooms!
Thats all for today! I hope you liked the drawing! Please let me know what you think! I’de love to here your opinions. And don’t forget to leave a link to your blog if you do comment; I’de love to see your work as well!

Spirit of Light

This piece was hugely inspired by a close friend. I want to credit her. Thank you!

Today I’m going to show you the first addition to my new sketchbook!!! I’m so excited! So much potential!!!

First I did a pencl sketch.

Then I inked it and then added some shading to the background.

And here it is finished!

Thank you for stopping by! Please let me know what you think of the drawing. I’ll be back soon!

Mothers Day activities.

Hello everyone! And happy Mothers Day!!!

Yesterday, I spent whatever time I could working on a gift for my mom the next day. These are what I made!

I made a card and decorated it with all scrap paper that I found lying in a closet full of craft supplies. I used paper punchers for the flowers and circles. On the inside, I typed up a nice note, printed it out, glued it in, and then we all signed it—-all 7 of us! 🙂

Then I made Mother’s Day coupons. This is a super fun idea! You give your mom some fun tickets to things she might like, like a home-pedicure, or maybe you offer to make dinner for her one night. Super fun! I hope she enjoys them!

We went to the beach today. It was super fun!!! I found a moist spot on the beach near the water (but not too close) and built a sand sculpture! It was super fun!!!

This is Appa, from an animated TV show called Avatar:The Last Airbender. He is the main characters pet flying bison.

That’s all for now! Happy Mothes Day! I’ll be back with drawings soon. Have a good week!
